Top Post By gameangler (1 thumbs up):

I tried my luck on Elsi on Wednesday 8th in the afternoon. As there was a very keen and cold wind blowing from the North not a fish was to be seen or touched by fly.

Returning on Saturday 11th in the morning the weather was warmer with a gentler breeze blowing.
Again no fish were showing although there were some hatches of duns and midges but the trout seemed to ignore them on the surface.

Did anyone fish on Sunday or Monday with the even warmer weather.??

Gwydyr Hotel Meeting Friday 20th November 2009

November 23, 2009 by gameangler

Did any members attend this meeting. Any results from it re: Canoeists Want Free Access to all rivers.

A piece appeared in todays Daily Post Monday 23rd November and it appeared that the meeting was full of eventful points, especially to do with the Canoe's on the rivers.

If anyone went and would like to add their views on this page of the Forum it would be much appreciated.

Yes it works.
The Damsel Nymph was the image I chose from my PC and attached it rather than uploaded it.

Hope this clarifies the way to put an image on this Forum.

Thanks Jamie for the information. It appears generally that you have to have your photos prviously uploade to another service such as Flickr and then link to them from there.

But on investigating further there are 2 links to insert an image .One at the top with a little computer logo and Insert Image ( text ) and one at the bottom of the reply to post.
By clicking on this link ( at the bottom ) you should be able to attach a photo to the post from you own PC.
I will try this now and see if I get an image in the post when everything is done.

What a Week??

September 3, 2009 by gameangler

I don't think we have ever had so much rain in one week as this week  beginning 31st August.Every day without fail the rain comes down.
Good news for us Anglers as it pushes the river levels up and the fish start running. Today ( Thursday )first thing the River Llugwy was well up and flooding in Capel Curig. By lunch time it must have dropped at least 4 feet so the water from here must have reached the The Meetings early in the day.

Was anyone out and fishing on either the Conwy or Llugwy? I am sure if they were they would be in with some luck. ( Spinning )

A bit too high for us Fly fishermen but wait a day until the rive r drops even more and the fish lie up in the tail of the pools , then it is our chance.
Post your fishing reports here .

With the amount of rain we have just had ( Friday 17th  July ) the River Conwy was colouring up very nicely to encourage a good fresh run of fish .

Did anyone catch  any Salmon on Friday ??

Re: Gate Access to Glyn Lakes.

June 25, 2009 by gameangler

Thanks for that information,-The Forestry Commission seem to be making access to all their roads as difficult as possible nowadays, just try the locks at Capel Curig going over to Bryn Engan. You need to be a magician to open these.
Obviously there is not an easy answer to this.Apart from making the double locking system very much easier to access than the confined space we have now.

Gate Access to Glyn Lakes.

June 9, 2009 by gameangler

Is anyone experiencing difficulty in actually opening the lock ( The combination lock )

When I went up a few weeks ago now I did have difficulty in opening the clubs  lock . I did notice that the lock for the Forestry  Commission's lock could not open the gate at all . It was clipped onto our lock which made it even more difficult to open.

Trying to read the combination numbers even with glasses on is not easy, and that is in dry weather, I would imagine in wet weather it will be nearly impossible . Standing on your head in the wet trying to read the combination is not a good way to start a days fishing.

Your Comments on this are very welcome.
By the way a blank for the mornings fishing on Llyn Buchan.

Hello Riverwalker,
Yes it would be nice to have better access into the next field. Not easy navigating barbed wire.
Hope Tony can make a note for the next work party.

Has anyone caught any Trout or even Sea Trout during the last 10 days when the river level did rise for a short time.??

Re: This weekends fishing

May 17, 2009 by gameangler

Let's update ourselves a little.
Its now May 17th , so has anyone had any luck over this week-end. I know it has been windy and pretty cool and hoping for warmer weather from now on until the month end.
What Lakes have been fishing well and what flies have been catching??

Re: Lake fishing

Nice to hear that the younger generation are becoming experts at catching fish.
Also good that  fly fishing is alive . Was your fly fished deep or just below the surface, and what was the make up of your fly. Did it have a black body, red tail and black hackle. Would be nice to know.

Thanks.

Welcome Message to New Members

April 7, 2009 by gameangler

Hello and welcome to all members of the Betws-y-Coed Anglers Club.
As we start the new season for Trout  on  the Lakes and Sea Trout and Salmon on the rivers, I would like to encourage all members to make use of this new Forum.
It is certainly not difficult to use and has many more features than our previous one. One of the features is putting your photoshot onto your posts. This makes it easier to relate to seeing who is who, so please use this  facility and get your comments and posts up and running.

If  you have any problems in using the forum just put up a post and someone will be able to help.

Tight lines to all members.

Include a photo

April 6, 2009 by gameangler

On this forum , which I am hoping everyone will get used to using, there is a facility to upload photos .
If you want to upload a photo go to a web site right click on the image and save image location, then paste the link into the box on this  page and hey presto it should be inserted into your message.

As you can see above.
I am afraid it does not work the same way as putting a photo onto Ebay , ie) directly from your computer, maybe one day this forum will have the knowhow to do that.

River Conwy

April 6, 2009 by gameangler

Has anyone fished the river over the last week or so, I know the levels are low but there could be some early sea trout coming into the deeper pools.

I know that the river Dee near Llangollen that one member there caught a nice sea trout.

I hope to be on the river Conwy this week-end giving it a try.

Japanes Knot weed

March 29, 2009 by gameangler

There is evidence of a largish area of newly sprouting Japanese Knotweed showing up on the River Conwy in the upper stretch.
From the Dolwyddelan turning off left the backroute to Penmachno and parking in the first layby past Pero Dog Foods, walk upstream for about 100 yards , there you will ssee a clump that was not treated for killing last year , sprouting new shoots. The size of the clump is about 2metres square and very close to the river.

Maybe Sian can advise on treatment.

Hello Jamie,
Thanks for the offer but at the moment evrything is working out OK with this Forum.

Re: Sorry New Forum Again.

March 24, 2009 by gameangler

My comment was : As the weather was warm over the week-end and has now changed to cooler conditions , this may well put fish down to the bottom to feed .

Can anyone tell me if there were any fish caught on the Fly or were they by other methods.
Thanks,.

Sorry New Forum Again.

Sorry to have to change this again. The last one was so very complicated to change things in the admin area.
So can we start with your comments again.
The last comments were from fishbyc who said that the Weekend fishing on the lakes was very good.
